Opening Weekend: South American, Mexican and Caribbean Celebration

The city was buzzing as the Mayor and Members of Council officially opened the festival on Saturday, July 11, capping off the ceremony with a release of 41 white birds representing the 41 participating nations. Organizing a festival of this size was only possible with the support of hard working and numerous dedicated staff, volunteers and sponsors.

Opening night showcased South American, and Caribbean dance, and Cuban music with the soulful vocals of famed Canadian musicians Jully Black and Jarvis Church. Sunday was an exciting day of Mexican, South American and Caribbean entertainment. A Mariachi band and traditional dances, along with Latin music at its best with Farrucas Duo, took over the Pan Am site!
